Q. What is The SpringShare?

The SpringShare is an opportunity for the entire Maine community to come together to celebrate the causes and values we care about. The SpringShare is a day-long event encouraging people who love Maine to give to a diverse community of Maine nonprofit organizations that work every day for economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, diversity, education, the arts, health, safety, animal welfare, social justice, and peace.

The SpringShare is a fun, easy and flexible way to engage donors to give as they learn more about the organizations that help the people, animals, and environment of Maine.

Donors are encouraged to give once to all organizations equally through MaineShare, or choose their favorite organization(s) to support.


Q. When is The SpringShare?

The SpringShare takes place on May 22nd, 2019 from midnight to 11:59 PM. The donor portal will be live from May 1st to May 31st 2019.


Q. Is my organization eligible to participate?

Only MaineShare member groups are currently eligible to participate in The SpringShare. To learn more about MaineShare, visit www.maineshare.org.


Q. Why should my organization participate?

The SpringShare is a great way to boost your organization's fundraising efforts and connect with new audiences. The SpringShare provides MaineShare members the opportunity to reach potential new donors and provides visibility that only a community-wide effort of this type can generate. To make the most of these efforts, your organization should ensure that your profile is up-to-date on the site well ahead of The SpringShare and is custom-branded to tell your story. MaineShare will be offering workshops during the first week of April in Portland, Brunswick and Augusta, invitations to follow. Q. How can my nonprofit participate?

Search for your organization by name or EIN on the Registration page. If you do not see your organization listed, you will have the opportunity to create your organization's profile. You can check out the support articles to walk you through the process, or you can email Ana at anamaria@maineshare.org for more information.


Q. How much does it cost to participate?

The cost to register for The SpringShare is $25.00 per organization. For The SpringShare, GiveGab is retaining a flat platform fee of 2% for those participating in the day for the period of May 1 through May 30, 2018. Credit card processing fees are an additional 2.2% + $0.30 for all credit cards. Donors are given the option to cover the fees and a majority of them do. If they cover the processing fees, 100% of their online charitable gift will go to MaineShare for your organization. MaineShare will manage The SpringShare contributions centrally and retain 11% (rather than our normal 15%) for campaign administration. (For example, if a donor contributes $100, and chooses to cover the GiveGab and credit card fees -- for an approximate total of $104.00 -- your organization will receive $89.00.)


Q. What is GiveGab?

MaineShare has engaged GiveGab to help administer The SpringShare. GiveGab is an online giving platform that helps nonprofits raise money, engage donors, and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy-to-use products that allow organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Q. What is the deadline to ensure my participation in The SpringShare?

The deadline to register and have guaranteed inclusion in The SpringShare is Wednesday, May 1st 2019. Your profile on GiveGab is available 365 days a year for fundraising and volunteer management.


Q. Can more than one person claim administrative access on our organization's page?

Yes, pending approval from existing administrators. All administrators will need to create profiles on GiveGab. Every person who has administrative access will receive emails about updates to their page. For The SpringShare, MaineShare will co-administer all profiles.


Q. How much of the donation will go to our organization?

Your organization will receive the donation through MaineShare, in June of 2019, after GiveGab's 2% platform fee, MaineShare's fee, and credit card fees are deducted. Donors are given the option to cover the fees and a majority of them do. If they cover fees, 100% of their online charitable gift will go to MaineShare for your organization. 100% of all donations are tax-deductible for the donor. All donations will be officially receipted for tax purposes by GiveGab and distributed according to donor choice by MaineShare.


Q. When will we receive the donated funds?

Funds will be processed by GiveGab and distributed by MaineShare in June 2019.


Q. How does an organization know who has donated and how much? Can I download a donations report?

All organizations that participate in The SpringShare will be able to access and download a .CSV file of their donations via their administrative dashboard on GiveGab. The report is updated in real-time and will include donation information (including a breakdown of the fees), and the donor's name and contact information. Download a sample donation report.

The SpringShare is an online day of giving hosted by MaineShare for over 40 statewide nonprofits in Maine dedicated to building an equitable, just community, and protecting our environment. MaineShare is a fun, easy and flexible way to donate to and learn more about organizations making a difference in our community.

Q. Who hosts The SpringShare?

The SpringShare is proudly hosted by MaineShare on behalf of its 44 Maine member nonprofits. MaineShare supports advances in economic development, education, diversity, and the arts, the environment, health and safety, animal welfare, and social justice in Maine. Its member groups are on the front lines throughout Maine to protect human rights and build a safe and sustainable future for all of us. Q. Who can donate to The SpringShare?

Anyone may donate! Donations through the online portal for The SpringShare to charitable nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only. Donations will be received and receipted by GiveGab.


Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors, and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allow organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Q. How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?

GiveGab retains a 2% campaign management fee from all donations, capped at $20 per donation. Credit card processing fees are an additional 2.2% + $0.30 for all cards. You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to the receiving organization. All donations are final and cannot be refunded.


Q. Who will receive my contact information?

The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.
